Encased Sofa

Encased Sofa is a piece of furniture in which the frame is wrapped around the cushion, both to provide stability and to keep everything in place without directly connecting the two. To achieve this, inspiration was taken from a technique used by jewelery makers in which they encase the gemstone in the ring. This technique is called "stone setting". The gem is held in place by being wrapped in the metal of the ring to create a metal "prison". Not only for the technical side but also for the aesthetic side of the sofa inspiration has b een taken from the shapes found in gemstones.
